بين السطور | Bāyn al-Sutūr | Between the Lines reimagines public spaces by integrating Arabic into the linguistic landscape of parks and gardens, fostering cross-cultural connections and inclusivity. Despite Arabic being the native language of two million Arab citizens in Israel, it is often absent or misrepresented in public spaces, disconnecting Arab communities and alienating Hebrew speakers. The project’s first implementation in HaMidron Park in Jaffa features vibrant, natural-inspired designs with accessible typography and culturally resonant proverbs, creating a welcoming narrative environment. Conceived by Shiri Meahler and Nawal Arafat and supported by the Tel Aviv Municipality's "Equal City" initiative, the project highlights language as a bridge for shared belonging.
